Bread of Life Food Pantry
When you think Hope Point Nazarene – Live Oak, what comes to your mind? It should be outreach. One of its most successful programs is The Bread of Life Food Pantry. Under the direction of Carla Childers, along with many volunteers, this vibrant outreach ministers to the hearts and stomachs of 80-100 families every week.
Every Wednesday at 6:30 pm, the doors are opened to waiting people who sometimes have been there for hours to get food for their families
The Bread of Life Food Pantry opened it doors sometime around the year 2001. The first week we opened we had around 20 families come for aid. Over the years the need has increased and yet the Lord has always provided. When a family comes in for food they are greeted with a smile and a warm welcome. They sign in, then have a seat while they wait for their turn to go through the food pantry.
When their name is called, they are guided through and allowed to choose items according to their family size. Families normally receive meat, rice or beans, canned goods, breakfast items, fruits and/or vegetables and bread. Never has anyone been turned away for lack of food.
The food is purchased thru our local Gleaners, or local supermarkets. It takes a lot of food to feed 75+ families every week. If you would like to personally donate, or know of business that might be willing to donate food items, please contact Carla @ 530-300-3842
Matthew 25:35-40 (NIV)
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
